Eng. Lady Midday. Female demon, seen in the middle of sunny days, mostly on fields.
She makes people sick or kill them if they fast asleep on midday in her territory. Sometimes she
kidnap children playing on the fields.

One of 20 Polish demons I painted.

I like how there's an eerie, haunting feel even in sunny midday.

I'm looking for information about all kinds of European/Slavic folklore creatures, poleviks and poludnicas among them (that's how I found this, too). They're not the most known (unlike, say, rusalkas). Apparently they can be classified as "demons", though. Can you name sources that could tell something about them? (heh, I'd be happy to find out even what name I should call them in my own language, there doesn't seem to be any)

I don't know any publications in English or languages other than Polish, so I can't recomend you any source

There are some info about slavic demons on wikipedia, but not much. Some of my interpretations of demons you can see on my website: www.dobroniega.com but there are no informations about them.

I wonder if the picture of this demon was your original point of view.The dying nature,the woman really has a demonic aura.I love the spontaneity of your painting, this is the main quality of watercolor among speed, one layer of color, no retouch.

I personally would reconsider the anatomy of her arm and the direction of her scythe,that would be definetly my style.I'm very impressed

Yes it was. There are no many pictures of Polish demons, and reading descriptions, sometimes even 3 pages in a book about one demon, gives me great idea of what I want to paint

Thank you, I really apreciate that! Yes, spontaneity and speed is very important in watercolor, and I still think I overdoing my paintings. So I'm really glad, that you can see in my painting, what I try to reach!
